Don’t Go In The Basement – A Chilling Haunted House Horror Story

 

When we moved into the old house, my mother gave me only one rule—never go into the basement. She said it was unsafe, filled with broken pipes and weak floors. I believed her… at first.

But every night, I heard sounds from below. Soft scratching. Slow footsteps. Sometimes, it even sounded like someone whispering.

One evening, when my parents were out, curiosity got the better of me. I grabbed a flashlight and stood at the basement door. My hand trembled as I turned the knob.

The stairs creaked as I stepped down. The air was cold and damp. The light flickered, barely revealing the dark corners.

Then I saw it.

In the far corner, something moved.

I took a step closer, my heart pounding. The beam of light fell on a figure sitting against the wall.

It looked exactly like me.

Same face. Same clothes.

But its eyes were hollow, and its smile… was wrong.

It slowly stood up and whispered, “You weren’t supposed to come here.”

The flashlight died instantly. I ran upstairs, slamming the door behind me.

The next morning, I asked my mother about the basement.

She looked at me, pale, and said, “That’s not the basement we locked…” 👻
