At exactly 3:03 a.m., my phone rang.
Half asleep, I stared at the screen and froze.
The caller ID showed my own phone number.
I thought it was a glitch, so I rejected the call. Seconds later, it rang again.
This time, I answered.
For five seconds, there was complete silence.
Then I heard my own voice whisper, “Don’t turn around.”
My blood ran cold.
I slowly looked toward the dark bedroom window. Nothing was there.
“Who is this?” I asked.
The voice on the phone breathed heavily. Then it said, “I’m you… from three minutes in the future.”
Suddenly, something knocked twice on my bedroom door.
I stopped breathing.
The voice continued, “Whatever happens, don’t open it.”
Another knock.
Then my phone screen showed a message from my own number:
“You already opened the door.”
I looked at the bedroom entrance.
The door was slowly swinging open.
My phone dropped from my hand.
From the darkness outside, I heard my own voice whisper:
“Too late.”
The call suddenly ended.
At 3:06 a.m., my phone rang again.
The caller ID was still my number.
But this time, the voice said:
“Now it’s your turn to call me.”
