Daniel moved into his grandmother’s abandoned house on a cold, rainy evening. The house was old, silent, and filled with dusty furniture. But one thing immediately caught his attention—a large portrait hanging at the end of the hallway.
It showed a young woman wearing a white dress. Her eyes looked strangely alive.
That night, Daniel heard soft crying coming from the hallway. When he opened his door, he saw tears slowly running down the woman’s painted face.
The next morning, he called his grandmother.
“Whatever you do,” she warned, “never touch that portrait.”
Daniel asked why.
She remained silent before whispering, “Your great-aunt disappeared forty years ago. That portrait was painted the night before she vanished.”
That night, the crying returned.
Daniel walked toward the portrait. The woman’s position had changed. She was now standing closer to the edge of the frame.
Then she whispered, “Please open the door.”
Suddenly, a locked wooden door appeared behind the portrait.
Terrified, Daniel smashed the frame. Behind it was an old photograph of his great- aunt.
Written on the back were five words:
“She is still waiting.”
Daniel turned around.
The portrait was empty.
A cold hand touched his shoulder.
Then he heard crying directly behind him.
