Ravi had been driving trucks for twelve years, but he had never experienced a night like that.
It was nearly 2:30 a.m. when he was crossing a deserted highway surrounded by dark forests. Suddenly, his truck engine began losing power. He stopped near an old milestone and stepped outside.
There was no wind, yet he heard someone whisper, “Help me…”
Ravi looked around. Nobody was there.
Then he noticed a woman standing beside the road, wearing a torn white dress. She raised her hand and silently pointed toward the forest.
Ravi quickly returned to his truck and locked the doors.
A few seconds later, someone knocked on the passenger window.
Knock… Knock… Knock…
He looked over.
The woman was standing right beside him.
Her face was covered by long, wet hair.
Ravi started the engine and drove away as fast as possible.
After a few minutes, he checked the rear-view mirror.
The woman was sitting in the back of the truck.
He screamed and slammed the brakes.
When he turned around, the cabin was empty.
Then his radio suddenly switched on.
A trembling voice whispered, “You shouldn't have stopped here.”
Ravi looked at the road ahead.
The same old milestone appeared again.
He realized he had been driving in circles.
And beneath the milestone was a fresh photograph of himself—with tomorrow’s date written on it.
