In a remote village of Bengal stood an abandoned mansion that locals refused to approach after sunset. They said a woman in a
red saree appeared there every midnight.
One rainy evening, Arjun, a curious journalist, decided to investigate.
At exactly 12 AM, he entered
the mansion with a flashlight. The wooden doors creaked behind him and locked themselves.
Inside, dusty portraits covered the walls. Suddenly, he heard
anklets moving upstairs.
“Who’s there?” Arjun called.
No answer.
He slowly climbed the stairs. At the end of the hallway, a woman in
a red saree stood facing the wall.
“Madam?” he whispered.
She turned around.
Her face was completely pale, and her eyes were dark and empty.
“Why did you come back?” she asked.
Arjun froze.
“I’ve never been here before,” he replied.
The woman smiled.
“Yes, you have.”
Suddenly, the lights in the mansion flickered. Arjun saw
dozens of old photographs scattered across the floor.
Every photograph showed him standing inside the mansion.
Then he noticed the dates.
The oldest photograph was from 1952.
A cold hand touched his shoulder.
The woman whispered, “You promised you would return.”
The next
morning, villagers found Arjun’s camera outside the mansion.
Inside the final photograph, Arjun stood beside the woman, smiling.
But his eyes were completely black.
