At the edge of a forgotten village stood an ancient well that nobody dared approach on the night of the new moon. Villagers called it the Black Well. They believed something lived beneath its dark water.
One Amavasya night, a curious young man named Arjun decided to discover the truth. At midnight, he walked toward the well carrying a lantern.
The village was completely silent.
When Arjun looked inside, he heard a woman's voice whisper, “Help me…”
He dropped the lantern and leaned closer.
Suddenly, the water began moving even though there was no wind. A pale face appeared beneath the surface.
Arjun stepped back in terror.
The face smiled.
Then another voice whispered from behind him:
“Don't look into the well.”
Arjun turned around.
Nobody was there.
He ran toward the village, but heard footsteps following him. When he reached his house, the footsteps suddenly stopped.
The next morning, villagers discovered muddy footprints leading from the well directly to Arjun's bedroom.
But Arjun was gone.
Inside the well, they found his lantern floating on the water.
Years later, the well was sealed with heavy stones.
Yet every Amavasya night, villagers still hear a man's voice rising from beneath it:
“Help me…”
Nobody knows whether it is Arjun calling for help—or something pretending to be him.
